- Considering that we want to develop the Jersey breed;
- Considering that we want to promote the breeding equally for production and type;
- Considering that the awards for Master Breeder and Constructive Breeder are a great way to showcase the breed;
- Considering that the provincial associations play an integral role in promotion;
- Considering that the names of the winners are released late in regards to the provincial AGMs;
With a proposition duly made, seconded and approved, we ask Jersey Canada that the names of all national awards winners be published at the latest at the end of January so they can be celebrated at the provincial level and the national level.

Jersey Canada will advance the application period for the individual awards to be completed by mid-December and aim to release the Master and Constructive Breeder awards by the end of January.
- WHEREAS many errors have recently been made in the determination of major Local, Provincial and National Jersey awards (ie. Master Breeder, Premier Exhibitor, Premier Breeder, *All-Canadian, All-Ontario, etc);
- WHEREAS the tools, technology and volunteers exist to assist with determinations;
- WHEREAS the dedicated Jersey Breeders and Community deserve a Standard of Excellence;
BE IT RESOLVED that Jersey Ontario/Jersey Canada prepare, share and implement the appropriate Standard Operating Procedures to improve accuracy of future award determinations.

Staff to implement, including assigning an extra person at the National Show to assist with points calculations.
- WHEREAS Jersey Canada members sometimes receive production awards from cows they no longer own.
- WHEREAS the standard is at the moment that a Jersey breeder that owns the cow at the beginning of her lactation gets the award.
- WHEREAS new owners or new breeders of the new purchased cow not always receives the production award while they finished the cow’s lactation.
BE IT RESOLVED that the new owner who finished the cow’s lactation should receive the production award.

Staff have implemented production records to be sent to and show the owner at the end of the lactation, starting April 1, 2026.
Recommend a small committee be put in place to update and create rules for the All-Canadian Contest using the 1996 and 2006 rules already established.

All shows carrying or being used as an All-Canadian show need to have judges selected by ballot or at an exhibitor meeting.

A sub-committee to be formed with members of the Awards and Show Committees to address the resolution.
- WHEREAS the current eligibility for Junior Breeders’ Herd and Senior Breeders’ herd at major Local, Provincial and National Jerseys shows states “Group of three (3) animals carrying the same prefix. The exhibitor must solely or jointly own at least one (1) animal in the group; the other two (2) animals may be owned by other exhibitors.”;
- WHEREAS a breeder may have sold three superior animals;
- WHEREAS a breeder may be unable to show at any major shows;
- WHEREAS a breeder deserves recognition for his excellence in breeding;
BE IT RESOLVED that the Junior Breeder’s Herd and Senior Breeder’s Herd class rules be upgraded to “Group of three (3) animals carrying the same prefix. The exhibitor does not need to own any animals solely or jointly in the group.

This has been sent to the board from the Show Committee for recommendation.
- WHEREAS Jersey Canada's website currently does not allow users to search for an animal by both prefix and herd management number;
- WHEREAS providing this search function would improve accessibility, efficiency, and ease of use for breeders and members trying to identify animals within herd records;
BE IT RESOLVED that Jersey Atlantic request that Jersey Canada update their website to enable animal searches by prefix and herd management number.
